Model multiplication and division of proper fractions and mixed numbers using the area model.

• Y5 -multiply proper fractions and mixed numbers by whole numbers, supported by materials and diagrams
• Y6 -multiply simple pairs of proper fractions, writing the answer in its simplest form
• Y6 -divide proper fractions by whole numbers

1. Choose multiplication or division by clicking the symbol.
2. Click and drag the numbers up and down to increase/decrease, (0 to 9).
3. You can make many improper fractions but 9 and 9/1 is just silly.
4. Press 'go'.
5. Each piece is draggable.
6. If you click on a piece you can see its fraction in the magnifying glass.
7. The magnifying glass disappears after 5 seconds.
8. The magnifying glass in draggable but for no reason. It doesn't help!
